By the way, if you didn't know a fixie is a 'fixed-gear bicycle' designed specifically for track & urban riding. It later gained quite a bit of popularity in the USA for bike messengers missioning through the busy cities. Now it has become a entire sub-culture. Check out Cape Towns very own Daniel Ting Chong making it around town on a Puma Fixie:
Read this little exert taken out of "Puma Presents: Fixed Gear 101"
“When you’re on a fixed-gear, it pushes you through intersections. You don’t want to stop. Once you get on it and you get moving, you stop thinking about stopping. You just think about getting around and getting through. If you got a bike with brakes, it’s like a safety net. You can always just grab the brakes and you know you’re gonna automatically stop. But if you get out there with a bike with no brakes, all of a sudden you’ve got to start thinking of alternatives to stopping." - Squid, Co-Captain of Puma Team.
Pop in to the store to check it out or just take a peep online. If you're interested email: contact@shelflife.co.za
